My journey with cycling began in my teenage years. Back then, I’d occasionally head out on a road bike with a close friend, just for the fun of it. I had been a runner from a young age, and cycling was a refreshing change of pace. As much as I enjoyed it, it didn’t quite capture my heart at first.
That all changed when I met my husband, Jakob. Watching him train and perform at the highest level of professional cycling sparked my curiosity. I wanted to give it another go - this time with more intention - and see how far I could push myself, how many mountains I could climb.
After moving south, the mountains quite literally became our backyard. Running started to feel tougher with all the elevation, while cycling grew more appealing. I began challenging myself by joining Jakob on his rest-day rides. Even those “easy” two-hour spins could leave me completely drained, despite being in good shape. But that exhaustion unlocked something new in me. I discovered just how far two wheels could take me—farther than I’d ever run—and how much beauty I could find along the way. Every climb was a struggle at first, but the breathtaking views at the top made it all worth it.
Gradually, I got stronger. My rides became longer, the climbs higher, my watts more consistent. The more I trained, the better I felt—and the more I explored, the more joy cycling brought me.
As my passion grew, so did my attention to gear. I’ve always had a love for design and fashion, and merging that with performance wear became a personal obsession. I tried countless brands—some of the biggest names and some hidden gems—but I never found one that fully met my expectations: a perfect blend of functionality, quality, technical design, and style.
That’s when Jakob and I decided to create our own cycling brand—something that reflected our values and vision. That’s how MAD.ONE was born. A brand built for everyone. A brand that shares our experiences. With Jakob’s 20 years of professional cycling insight, we’ve worked tirelessly to develop products that aim for absolute perfection. We’ve poured endless hours into testing, refining materials, and designing kits.
When I finally started riding in our finished products, everything changed. The fit, the feel—how the fabric moved with me and supported me on any ride—was unlike anything I’d worn before.
I'm incredibly proud of what we’ve built with MAD.ONE. What makes it all worth it is hearing from customers who love their kits as much as we do. We offer bold, vibrant colors for the daring, and timeless, neutral tones for those who prefer to keep it simple.
Running MAD.ONE has definitely taken time away from my personal rides. I’ve had to sacrifice many hours on the bike to build the brand—but seeing others thrive in our gear gives me immense satisfaction.
Cycling is a beautiful sport. It’s hard, it’s humbling, and yes—it can hurt. But more than anything, it brings a kind of joy and fulfillment that few other things can.
What’s more, I’m finally seeing a shift, more and more women are getting into cycling. Like many other sports, it was once dominated by men. But now, when I head out for a ride, I no longer see just groups of men on bikes. I see women out there too, discovering the same joy, freedom, and strength that cycling has given me. It’s inspiring to witness this change and to be part of a growing community of female riders.
Cycling has also become my sacred time, my moments of me-time. As a mother of two, life is wonderfully full and beautifully intense. My children mean the world to me, and I treasure every moment with them. But now more than ever, I understand the importance of carving out time for myself. To slow down, reconnect, and find inner peace.
When I’m pedaling up a climb, all I hear is the rhythm of my breath, the steady whir of the wheels, and the quiet sounds of nature around me. I feel the road beneath me. I disconnect from my responsibilities and focus solely on the challenge ahead. It’s just me and my bike. Even when my legs start to burn, I push on. I feel grounded, present, and at peace, with a deep desire to reach the top.
And when I do, when I finally arrive and take in the view, it’s a feeling that words can’t quite capture. It’s powerful, humbling, and addictive. I want to do it again and again - to chase that harmony I find within myself through every climb and descent.
I truly hope everyone gets to experience that feeling at least once. And I hope more people continue to discover the joy and strength that cycling can bring. As for us, we’ll keep pushing cycling forward by creating the most advanced, thoughtfully designed kits - built to empower every rider on their own journey.
