We love racing. Both as participants and as spectators. So we set out to show our support for the pro-peloton and support the supporters with musettes and caps during the final stages of this year's Tour de France - ending with a special event in Monaco during the final TT.
STAGE 19
The first day we went to Isola for the ending of stage 19. The atmosphere on the mountain was full of anticipation and the mood was already high before the riders came - especially as the caravan passed. We made sure to hand out musettes and caps to the most dedicated fans!
Soon after the sound of helicopters started to come from up high above the mountains and we knew the riders would soon be here. And BOOM. All of a sudden they came blasting with an unbelievable pace.
STAGE 20
The following day we went on to meet the riders on the first real climb of the day Col de Braus. This time the sun was out and it was HOT. Baking in the sun the crowd was closely watching the hairpins below looking for any sign of cyclists.
Like ants the riders appeared and started climbing the hairpins. It felt unreal the speed they were climbing with. Like reality was sped up. And before we knew it they were right in front of us.
STAGE 21
The final stage of this year's Tour de France and the end of this year's edition of the world's biggest cycling race. Usually taking place in Paris but due to the Olympics the stage was taking place at Cote de Azur: starting in Monaco and endning in Nice. Also it was not a road stage but a TT. Together with a few friends MAD.ONE had booked a restaurant with a direct view to the course - the perfect opportunity to experience the riders emptying the tank on the course - with a drink in hand.
After a lot of ALLEZ ALLEZ ALLEZ yelling, a few drinks, delicious italian food a guy in yellow came blasting by in a flash almost too fast to see. We were not sure but we think it was Pogacar! It was clear that it was Pogacar's home roads in and around Monaco as he climbed up and over Col de Eze and absolutely bombed down to Nice. As the yellow lighting crossed the finish line it marked the end of this year's Tour de France.
We can't wait for next year where we will probably be on the road again - supporting the supporters and the riders.
