Hi again,
Jakob Fuglsang here. I hope you’re doing great and are excited about heading into 2026 in just a few days.
In this final newsletter of the year, I’d like to tell you about a special day on the bike this season.
As you know, this has been quite a big year for me, as I called an end to my long career as a professional cyclist. It was a successful season in many ways, and we celebrated big results with the team. However, my best day on the bike actually came on the very last day of racing for me in 2025.
My final race was the Tour of Denmark, which I raced with the Danish national team. On the last day, we finished the stage in my hometown of Silkeborg - a perfect way to say goodbye to the Danish fans who have always supported me throughout my career.
I felt the support from the fans every day during the race, but this final day was something else. The crowd was just amazing. So many people shouted my name along the roadside, and I felt like the whole country was out cheering for me on this last day of my career. Even after the stage, so many people came up to me, thanking me for all the years. It was truly special.
What meant the most to me, though, was all the young riders coming up to me during the stage, telling me how I had helped inspire them to start cycling. They talked about how seeing me on TV had made a generation of young riders believe that it’s possible to aim for the general classification in a Grand Tour and to win a Monument race - even as a Danish rider from a country without high mountains or warm weather for most of the year.
It meant so much to me to hear that from my colleagues and mates in the peloton. Nowadays, there are so many strong Danish riders, but it wasn’t always like that. And if I have helped spark the fire in this new generation, I’m really proud.
Riding into my hometown on the final day of my career was almost like a fairytale ending for me. It was definitely my best - and my most emotional - day on the bike this year.
How about you? Have you thought about what your best day on the bike was this year? It’s always good to remind ourselves of the highlights each year to keep up both our motivation and ambition.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank you. Yes, you. With MAD.ONE, I hope to build a real community where we can inspire each other to perform at our best. That’s why I’m really glad you’ve decided to join our community.
